Limelight Vision End User License Agreement

Version 1.2. Effective 2026-11-03.

READ THIS FIRST. This End User License Agreement ("Agreement") is a contract between you ("You") and Limelight Vision, L.L.C. ("Limelight"). It covers the Limelight Software described below. By downloading, installing, or using a Limelight device or the Limelight Software, You accept and agree to be bound by this Agreement, and You represent that You have reached the age of majority where You live or that Your parent or legal guardian, or an organization accepting for You under Section 2.4, agrees to be bound by this Agreement on Your behalf. If You do not accept it, do not download or use the software, do not use the device, and return the device unused.

1. WHAT THE WORDS MEAN

1.1 "Limelight Software" means the programs, firmware, background services, libraries, web interface code, scripts, machine learning models and weights, keys, and data files that Limelight wrote or had written for it and ships on or with a Limelight device, in whatever form Limelight ships them, including compiled, binary, minified, and script form. It includes the official device images, toolchains, software development kits, and desktop applications that Limelight publishes for Limelight devices, such as Limelight Hardware Manager, and every earlier release, version, or part of any of these. It also includes every copy and every Transformed Version of any of these, in whatever form and however made or obtained, and all information derived from any of them in breach of Section 3.

1.2 "Limelight Software" does not include the Open Source Components described in Section 6, the documentation Limelight publishes publicly, Your Programs, or Your Data. It also does not include software that Limelight publishes under its own separate license terms, such as an open source license. That software is governed by those terms instead of this Agreement.

1.3 "Limelight device" means genuine hardware made or authorized by Limelight, including the Systemcore robot controller, that the Limelight Software is meant to run on.

1.4 "Open Source Components" means the third party software included in the Limelight Software, including in the device images, toolchains, software development kits, web interface, and desktop applications, that comes under its own open source license, as described in Section 6.

1.5 "Your Programs" means software that You or others write to run on a Limelight device or to work with one, wherever it runs, such as robot code, dashboards, and scripts, including the parts of it that use the interfaces and libraries Limelight publishes for that purpose. Your Programs do not include any copy or Transformed Version of the Limelight Software, other than Limelight libraries included or linked as Sections 2.1(d) and 2.1(f) allow.

1.6 "Your Data" means data produced or recorded by using a Limelight device, such as Your settings, logs, telemetry, network table values, camera images and video, and detection results. Your Data also includes the error messages, crash reports, stack traces, and diagnostic logs that the Limelight Software produces in normal use, even though they may name Limelight files, functions, or components. Your Data does not include the Limelight Software itself or any copy, dump, listing, or Transformed Version of it, however the device produced, showed, or recorded it, including memory dumps, core dumps, and disassembly.

1.7 "Transformed Version" means any decompiled, disassembled, decrypted, deobfuscated, unminified, decompressed, extracted, dumped, traced, translated, converted, emulated, or otherwise altered or derived form of the Limelight Software or any part of it, and any source code, pseudocode, or description of its inner workings derived from it. The error messages, crash reports, stack traces, and diagnostic logs described in Section 1.6 are not Transformed Versions.

1.8 "AI System" means any artificial intelligence, machine learning, large language model, neural network, statistical learning, or other automated analysis or code generation system, model, service, agent, or tool, whether run by someone else, run locally by You, or run, called, or directed by another AI System. A chain or group of AI Systems that pass work to one another, however long and however arranged, counts as one AI System, and an orchestrator that has another AI System do something has done it.

1.9 Acting for You. If any software, automated tool, or AI System does something using access, copies, prompts, instructions, goals, credentials, or devices that came from You, whether You gave them to it directly or it got them through a chain of tools or AI Systems that You ran, prompted, or directed, then You did it. It does not matter how many steps or systems sit between You and the act, whether You knew which one would do it, or whether You asked for that act or only for a result. An AI System's actions are Your actions under this Agreement. People are covered separately: Section 2.5 covers the people You allow to use the Limelight device or the Limelight Software, and Section 3 covers asking, allowing, or helping anyone else.

2. YOUR LICENSE

2.1 If You follow this Agreement, Limelight gives You a limited, revocable, non-exclusive license to:

(a) download the official device images, toolchains, and software development kits that Limelight publishes, keep complete copies of them as published, and install and use any number of copies of the toolchains, software development kits, and desktop applications to develop and test Your Programs and to install, update, restore, find, and configure Limelight devices that You own or run;

(b) install and run the Limelight Software on a genuine Limelight device that You own or run, and use it to operate that device for its normal purpose;

(c) load the web interface in a browser, and make the transient copies that normal use of the device requires;

(d) write, build, run, and share Your Programs using the toolchains, software development kits, interfaces, and libraries Limelight publishes for that purpose, including by linking Your Programs against those libraries. Your Programs are not derivative works of the Limelight Software under Section 3 merely because they do this. Any Limelight library included in or linked by Your Programs remains Limelight Software and stays subject to Section 3;

(e) make complete backup copies of the Limelight Software and of Your device's storage for Your own use; and

(f) Distributable Code. The libraries that Limelight publishes for use in Your Programs, whether as source files to copy into a project or as vendordep files and the binary packages they fetch, are "Distributable Code." You may copy and distribute Distributable Code, in the form Limelight publishes it, as part of Your Programs, including in Your source repositories, builds, and deployed programs, and You may permit distributors of Your Programs to copy and distribute it as part of those programs. You may modify source-form Distributable Code for use in Your Programs. All of this is allowed as long as You: use it in Your Programs and not as a standalone distribution; keep Limelight's copyright and other notices in it; do not use Limelight's trademarks in Your Programs' names or in a way that suggests Limelight endorses them; and do not modify or distribute it so that any part of it becomes subject to a license that requires it to be disclosed in source code form or that others have the right to modify it.

2.2 This is a license, not a sale. Limelight and its licensors keep all rights in the Limelight Software. You get only the rights written here. Nothing in this Agreement limits what You may do with Your Programs or Your Data. You may use the Limelight Software only as expressly permitted in this Agreement.

2.3 Transferring a device. You may give or sell a Limelight device to someone else with the Limelight Software installed on it, as long as You keep no backup or other copies of the Limelight Software taken from that device, and the recipient accepts this Agreement. Apart from that, this license is personal to You, and You may not transfer or sublicense it.

2.4 Accepting for a team or organization. If You accept this Agreement for a robotics team, club, school, or other organization, You promise You are allowed to accept it for that group, and "You" means both you and that group. That group is bound by this Agreement.

2.5 The people You let use it. You are responsible for compliance with this Agreement by everyone You allow to use the Limelight device or the Limelight Software, including Your team members, students, mentors, coaches, employees, contractors, and volunteers. If You become aware that any of them did not follow this Agreement, You agree to take reasonable steps to resolve the non-compliance and prevent new occurrences.

2.6 Age requirements. If You are under the age of majority where You live, You must have Your parent or legal guardian's permission to use a Limelight device or the Limelight Software, or use them through a team, club, school, or other organization that has accepted this Agreement under Section 2.4. Please have Your parent or legal guardian read this Agreement with You. If You do not know whether You have reached the age of majority where You live, or do not understand this section, ask Your parent or legal guardian for help. If You are a parent or legal guardian and You allow Your child to use a Limelight device or the Limelight Software, this Agreement applies to You and You are responsible for Your child's use.

3. WHAT YOU MAY NOT DO

You may not do any of the following, whether Yourself or through anything Acting for You, and You may not ask, allow, or help anyone or anything else to do them. The only exceptions are the rights written in Section 2, the allowances written in this Section 3, including Sections 3.1 and 3.2, and any that the law says cannot be waived:

(a) reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, decrypt, deobfuscate, unminify, dump, trace, emulate, instrument, or hook the Limelight Software, inspect or analyze its binary code, memory, symbols, or internal data, or otherwise try to derive its source code, algorithms, models, data structures, file formats, protocols, keys, or other inner workings, whether by hand or with automated tools or AI Systems. Ordinary debugging of Your Programs that does not involve reverse engineering the Limelight Software is fine;

(b) modify, adapt, translate, patch, or make derivative works of the Limelight Software, or change how it works;

(c) copy or extract any part of the Limelight Software out of a Limelight device, official image, toolchain, or software development kit. The only copies You may hold are the ones Section 2.1 allows;

(d) publish, upload, post, share, sell, rent, lease, lend, sublicense, host, or otherwise give the Limelight Software, or any part or Transformed Version of it, to anyone or anything else, including to any file sharing service, except as Section 2.1 allows. Telling someone where to get Limelight's official downloads is fine;

(e) use the Limelight Software, or any part or Transformed Version of it, to train or fine tune an AI System, or use an AI System to do, or help do, anything Section 3(a) forbids, including by giving it a Transformed Version of the Limelight Software. Using an AI System to help You write, build, debug, and understand Your Programs is fine, including when that AI System can see Your Programs, Your Data, Limelight's public documentation, and the toolchains, software development kits, interfaces, and libraries that Limelight publishes for Section 2.1(d);

(f) use the Limelight Software to develop another software development kit, device image, or other software that substitutes for the Limelight Software, or use any information obtained in breach of this Section 3 for any purpose. You are of course free to develop software that competes with the Limelight Software, as long as the Limelight Software is not used for that purpose;

(g) remove, hide, or change any copyright, trademark, or other notice, or any marking used to identify or control the software;

(h) get around or defeat any license check, sign in, encryption, obfuscation, or other protection in the Limelight Software or the device, extract or use any key from them, or run the official device images, device firmware, or other device-side Limelight Software on hardware that is not a genuine Limelight device. The toolchains, software development kits, libraries, and desktop applications that Sections 2.1(a) and 2.1(d) cover may run on Your own computers; or

(i) make, share, or distribute any tool, exploit, or key designed to do anything in this Section 3, or enable others to do so.

3.1 Interoperability. If the law gives You a right to decompile part of the Limelight Software to make it work with another program, and that right cannot be waived, first ask Limelight in writing for the information You need. Limelight may give it to You on fair terms. Any decompilation the law allows is limited to that purpose and to the parts You truly need. Anything You obtain this way is Limelight's confidential information. You may use it only for that purpose, may not share it, and may not give it to an AI System.

3.2 Open source linking. Some Open Source Components, such as libraries under the GNU Lesser General Public License, require that You be allowed to modify the software that uses them for Your own use, for example by relinking it with a modified version of that component, and to reverse engineer it for debugging those modifications. Where an Open Source Component's license requires that, You may do it for that purpose only, for Your own use only, and only to the extent that license strictly requires. Limelight grants nothing beyond that. You may not share anything You learn this way, use it for any other purpose, or give it to an AI System, except where that license itself requires otherwise.

4. WHO OWNS IT

The Limelight Software is protected by copyright and other laws. Limelight and its licensors own it and every copy of it, along with all related intellectual property rights. The source code, algorithms, models, and inner workings of the Limelight Software are Limelight's trade secrets and confidential information, even though the compiled software is distributed. Anything You derive from the Limelight Software in breach of Section 3 is also Limelight's confidential information, and You must keep it confidential and not use or disclose it. This Agreement gives You no rights in Limelight's trademarks.

5. UPDATES

If Limelight gives You updates or patches for the Limelight Software, this Agreement covers them too, unless they come with their own terms. Limelight does not have to provide updates.

6. OPEN SOURCE COMPONENTS

The Limelight Software includes Open Source Components that come under their own licenses, such as the GNU GPL, LGPL, BSD, MIT, and Apache licenses. This Agreement does not limit, replace, or add anything to Your rights under those licenses, and Section 3 does not apply to the Open Source Components. Your rights to use, change, and, where the license requires, get the source code of each Open Source Component come only from that component's own license. A Limelight program that includes or links an Open Source Component is still Limelight Software; only the Open Source Component itself is excluded, and Section 3.2 covers what that component's license requires. The Open Source Components, their licenses, and their copyright and other notices are identified in the notices that accompany the Limelight Software. If this Agreement and an Open Source Component's license ever conflict for that component, the component's license wins.

7. YOUR SUGGESTIONS

If You send Limelight feedback, ideas, or suggestions about the Limelight Software or a Limelight device, You give Limelight a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty free license to use them for any purpose without credit or payment to You.

8. HOW IT ENDS

This Agreement lasts until it ends. It ends right away if You break any of its terms. When it ends, You must stop using the Limelight Software and delete the copies of it that You hold outside of a Limelight device. You agree that a breach of Section 3 would cause Limelight harm that money alone cannot repair, and that Limelight may seek an injunction or other equitable relief to stop or prevent it, in addition to any other remedy. Sections 1, 2.2, 3, 4, and 6 through 12 stay in effect after it ends.

9. NO WARRANTY

The Limelight Software is provided "as is" and "as available," with no warranty of any kind, whether stated, implied, or set by law, to the fullest extent the law allows. This includes no implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, or non infringement. You carry the whole risk as to its quality and performance. You are responsible for making sure that any robot or other system You build with the Limelight Software has the safety features that the rules and laws that apply to it require.

10. LIMITS ON LIABILITY

To the fullest extent the law allows, Limelight and its licensors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to this Agreement or the Limelight Software, whatever the cause and under any theory. Limelight's total liability will not be more than the amount You paid for the Limelight device that the claim relates to. Some places do not allow some of these limits, so some may not apply to You.

11. EXPORT

You will follow all export control and sanctions laws, and will not export, re export, or use the Limelight Software in a way those laws forbid.

12. GENERAL

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, USA, without its conflict of laws rules, and the U.N. Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply. This is the whole agreement between You and Limelight about the Limelight Software, and it replaces any earlier understanding. If any part cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If Limelight does not enforce a term once, it can still enforce it later. You may not assign this Agreement without Limelight's written consent, except as Section 2.3 allows.
